Talk: Interactive Flowers Projection with particleSOP
Akiko will present her most recent work ‘Hana Fubuki’, an interactive flowers projection for Artechouse DC. The presentation will cover both artistic and technical aspects of creating an art installation. From concept and prototyping to pre-visualizing the project using using TouchDesigner, Akiko will discuss the technical requirements of the project; setting up multiple Kinect devices with small computers across a network; NDI quality and resolution tips; how the project was driven using a Particle SOP with Force and Metaball SOP; creating custom attributes and geometry instancing with w coordinate with Texture 3D TOP will all be discussed.

Akiko Yamashita is a Japanese artist best known for projection mapping and light installations currently based in Los Angeles. Her artworks explore visual illusions with a prism-inspired full spectrum of colours. She works as a Design Director at VT Pro Design, a full service creative design studio with a focus on the latest technology and techniques in Los Angeles, California. She has a U.S. O-1B Visa which is distributed to individuals recognized for their extraordinary abilities in the arts. She is a former professional dancer and has 15 years of experience. Akiko is self-taught and started a projection mapping artists collective Mapjacks. She enjoys working with music, fashion, and architecture and providing solutions that light up the environment. Her light hallway Portal won an A’ Design Award (Silver).
