Workshop: Tape Mapping with TouchDesigner
Since its invention in 1925 by M. Richard Gurley Drew (3M – Scotch), adhesive tape has become a medium of choice for a large number of artists. From the replacement of paint and colored glass to its own more contemporary style of tape art with projection aka : Tape Mapping. Tape art already sticks to the walls of several major international art galleries and museums. This workshop will be an introduction to this medium, its history, its contemporary applications and finally Guilllaume Bourassa’s own artistic approach with the sticky ribbon.

Participants will explore the Kantan Mapper .tox that is already included in palette of TD99, which allows, amongst other things, to generate ”Tape Mapping” type installations. Then it will be taken one step further and control of the content through the use of Python and an Android tablet with TouchOSC will make the project interactive. The end of the workshop will allow participants to create a collective work with the tape based on a pattern created by artist ThisIsNotDesign [TiND].
