AudioVisual Session #1 | Modular Synth | MaxMSP | TouchDesigner | FM Synthesis | Datamosh
During the Christmas holidays, Andrea Dipa and I worked on this AVP, connecting TouchDesigner with my Live Electronics system, developed together with Matilde.
The system features a MaxMSP patch driving an experimental drum machine with a diagonal triggering mechanism. Each cycle generates unpredictable results, keeping the performance dynamic and ever-evolving. All sounds are fully FM synthesized, with no samples involved, delivering power and tonal variety. The MaxMSP patch also controls my modular system via an output gate, generating textures and arpeggios. For the bass, I rely on my trusted Moog Grandmother, an instrument I’ve used for years, whose versatility continues to provide satisfying results, working seamlessly in synergy with my modular setup.
On the visual side, we leveraged TouchDesigner to create real-time distortions on images and footage, using Datamosh techniques to craft an unpredictable and immersive visual aesthetic that resonates with the sonic complexity.
