The 2023.11000 series of TouchDesigner brought so many great new features that we’re still working through them! On the long list of additions in the release notes is a set of tools for working with timecode. A new CHOP, additional features for several existing CHOPs and more were added, all supporting timecode which can conform to the SMPTE standard.
In this video, Jack DiLaura walks you through the new timecode tools added in TouchDesigner 2023.11290. You’ll take a deep dive into the Timecode CHOP, experimenting with the available parameters, and using it in conjunction with other operators.
Along the way, you’ll also look at timecode support that’s been woven into operators like the Movie File In TOP. Finally, you’ll experiment with sending timecode data over OSC to a second instance of TouchDesigner to “synchronize” the playback position of multiple videos.
