TouchDesigner A/V | FALSH FX Test_Feb.15 Recoding
On February 16, 2024, I stayed up all night at a Starbucks in Bangkok working on an effect, then went to the Shambhala Festival the next day and had such a blast that I almost forgot about it. Recently, I came across the screen recording I almost deleted, haha. I used a lot of TOP effects (many layers of Displace) to compensate for TD’s rendering limitations. In later performances and commercial projects, I also adjusted and optimized this effect.
What surprised me the most was achieving this flashing effect through the material. When I set the material’s roughness to 0, the reflection area became smaller, and by using the Bloom effect, I enhanced and expanded the highlights. The base animation was a skeleton model rendered in TD, with added camera animation. The entire trippy, flowing effect was achieved through post-production.
Last year, I spent a lot of time creating and applying projects in TouchDesigner. Moving forward, I’ll slowly share more of my work and personal tips—stay tuned! This year, I plan to gradually transition to Unreal Engine as my main creative tool.
