One of the biggest challenges when creating and conceptualising for this project was how three seemingly opposed mediums of design could intersect. Street art and tagging culture, a notorious and anonymous practice marred by decades of illegality, digital video rendering an until very recently expensive and difficult to learn discipline, and video for music design which has been built up as a tool for iconographic purposes and a tool for celebrity culture. Handing these tools to the audience-performer, how does this challenge, compliment and redefine these disciplines? Future development and, eventually hopefully implementation, of ENIGMA or a similar workflow may answer this. Or not. Maybe we don’t need this level of control in the first place? Nice to know it can be done though isn’t it?
