What is blob tracking in Touchdesigner 👇

The Blob Track TOP is built using OpenCV.
To access its output, connect an Info DAT or Info CHOP. These will display details such as blob IDs, positions, and sizes (in pixels). Each new blob detected is assigned a unique, incrementing ID.

Since the operator works on a single color channel, it automatically converts the input image to monochrome. For best results, it’s recommended to place a Monochrome TOP and a Luma Level TOP before the Blob Track TOP, then fine-tune the Black Level, Brightness, and Gamma.

A common setup is to connect a live video feed (e.g., from the Video Device In TOP) directly into the Blob Track TOP.

Note: In the Pro and Commercial editions of TouchDesigner, you can track an unlimited number of blobs. In the Non-Commercial version, tracking is limited to two blobs.
