Collective Memory | An Interarts Collaboration with Touchdesigner

Collective Memory is a collaborative interarts performance centered around one’s shared pool of memories, each forming a strong part of a person’s individual identity. Performing Chorale by Robert Honstein on Vibraphone and Meditation by Ian T. Jones on Marimba, I chose pieces that lean more towards a less melodic and atmospheric sound to give more freedom to the visual team. In addition, Meditation used a looping pedal with repeating patterns that added to the ambience and feeling of memories all coming together.

Made in Touchdesigner by Hansen Han and Russell Raney, this collection of abstract visuals take the audience on a journey of seeing the pieces of your memory amalgamate into one collective being. This combined with the music elevated the performance into an introspective and thought-provoking project. All small particles on their own, each piece of memory is an important part of what makes us who we are.
