Alterlife::Interbeing (working title)

We approach Alterlife with the awareness that we are drawing from North American Indigenous and Black feminist scholarship, from our positions as Karelian-Finnish (Laura Puska) and Mexican-Canadian (Tosca Terán / Nanotopia) artists working in a European, English-speaking context. These frameworks are not entirely ours to claim; they are invitations to listen, learn, and act with responsibility toward the histories and communities they emerge from. We plan to explore how altered ecologies, contaminated soils, saturated waters, and chemically burdened bodies can be encountered through a multi-sensory language. This language, which we are developing, aims to engage all the senses to convey the complex and often overlooked aspects of these environments.
