For beginners to TouchDesigner, the task of generating an ADSR envelope with CHOPs might seem simple enough — the Trigger CHOP is a great tool for doing just that.
But what if you want to have multiple ADSR envelopes running at the same time? Your first thought might be to add some additional Trigger CHOPs, but TouchDesigner has got you covered with the Event CHOP!
The Event CHOP is a great tool for generating overlapping events on a trigger input, and is often used in conjunction with a MIDI keyboard.
In this video, Jack DiLaura (@jackdilaura) walks you through using the Event CHOP for instancing geometry. You’ll learn the basics of the operator, including the channels it produces, the available parameters, the ability to sample in data with the generation of each event and the useful ability to generate events with Python.
You’ll work with Python to generate events and sample in point positions from a Grid SOP, and finally work with additional CHOPs to process the Event CHOP’s output data for instance attributes.
